What is an Excise Stamp?

An Excise Stamp is a security label/adhesive stamp that is affixed to selected goods to show that excise duty has been paid to the Government of South Sudan. It is used on selected products including alcoholic beverages, soft drinks, cigarettes and beer. The primary purpose of the excise stamp is to:

  • Prove legal tax compliance
  • Prevent counterfeit or illicit trade
  • Help the Government to track and trace products subject to excise duty within the South Sudanese market.
